JAMB 2026 Minimum Admission Scores: What 150 and 100 Actually Mean

JAMB's 2026 policy meeting set national minimum tolerable admission scores, but those figures are often misunderstood as universal school cut-off marks. They are not. For the 2026 admission cycle, JAMB's current official information lists 150 for universities and colleges of nursing, and 100 for polytechnics, monotechnics, colleges of agriculture, colleges of education and Innovation Enterprise Institutions.

A national floor is not a school guarantee

The word “minimum” matters. A university can require a higher screening score than 150, and a polytechnic can require more than 100 for a particular admission route. The national figure prevents institutions from admitting below the approved floor; it does not compel a school to admit everyone above it.

Start with the JAMB national benchmark, then move to the institution page. For universities, check the school’s current screening threshold and course requirements. For YABATECH and other polytechnic routes, check the institution’s own admission notice and the exact ND or HND requirements. HND routes should not be treated as ordinary UTME admission because they depend on ND qualifications and programme-specific conditions.
