LASUED General Admission Requirements: UTME and Direct Entry
LASUED’s 2026/2027 admission screening notice sets out a straightforward general baseline for regular undergraduate applicants, but the exact course still matters. Candidates enter through UTME or Direct Entry, must satisfy the relevant O’Level subjects and need to follow the University’s current screening and JAMB/CAPS requirements.
This guide records the general rules verified from LASUED’s official 2026/2027 notice. It is deliberately separate from deadline updates. If LASUED changes a portal date or opens another application window, LAG Institutes can publish that as a later Verified Notice without rewriting the entire admissions baseline.
UTME / 100 Level requirements
For the 2026/2027 screening exercise, LASUED required candidates to choose the University as first choice and score at least 185 in the UTME. The score is the general screening threshold for that session, not a promise of admission into every programme.
The candidate must also satisfy the relevant O’Level requirement for the course. A student with 185 or more can still be ineligible if the compulsory subjects for the programme are missing.
O’Level requirements
LASUED’s 2026/2027 notice requires five credits in relevant subjects in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, NBAIS, GCE O’Level or an equivalent qualification, including English Language and Mathematics, at not more than two sittings. The other three subjects must fit the programme requirement in the JAMB brochure and University guidance.
Do not choose a programme because its name appears on the admission list alone. Check that your actual O’Level subjects and UTME combination match that course.
Age and JAMB CAPS requirements
For 2026/2027, LASUED required candidates to be at least sixteen years old by October 1, 2026. The same admission notice also stated that only candidates who uploaded their O’Level results to JAMB CAPS by the published deadline would be considered for admission.
Age and upload deadlines are session-sensitive. A future admission year may use a different reference date, which is why the current LASUED notice should be checked before relying on an older screenshot or third-party post.
Direct Entry
LASUED’s 2026/2027 notice invites Direct Entry candidates and specifically mentions NCE holders. Direct Entry applicants must have chosen LASUED as first choice in the JAMB Direct Entry exercise and must satisfy the relevant qualification and course requirements.
An NCE, ND, HND, A-Level or other qualification should not be treated as universally acceptable for every LASUED programme. Use the current course requirement and Direct Entry instructions for the exact degree.
Lagos State indigeneship verification
LASUED also runs an Independent Indigeneship Verification Exercise for candidates claiming Lagos State origin. The University’s 2026/2027 notice for that exercise states that Lagos-origin applicants, including Direct Entry applicants in the relevant category, must be cleared before they can be considered under the indigeneship claim. This is an additional verification step, not an admission offer.
Credentials, first-choice status and screening consistency
LASUED’s screening notice requires credentials to be uploaded online and ties eligibility to first-choice status in JAMB. The information submitted to the University should therefore agree with the candidate’s JAMB and O’Level records. A mismatch in name, result details or admission route can delay verification even when the candidate has the required score.
Direct Entry candidates should also make sure that the qualification used for entry is the same qualification being presented for the selected programme. If the University publishes a new screening instruction after this baseline was verified, follow the newer official instruction for that session.
Practical checklist
- Confirm LASUED is your first choice in JAMB.
- Meet the current UTME screening threshold for the session.
- Check five relevant O’Level credits including English and Mathematics.
- Verify the exact course subject combination.
- Upload O’Level results to JAMB CAPS within the current admission timeline.
- Direct Entry candidates should confirm the qualification accepted for their chosen programme.
What meeting the minimum does — and does not — mean
Meeting the general requirements means you may be eligible to continue with the institution’s admission process. It does not guarantee admission. Departmental subject combinations, programme capacity, screening performance, aggregate scores, document verification and JAMB/CAPS processing can still affect the final outcome.
If your intended course has a separate O’Level, UTME or Direct Entry requirement, that course-specific rule takes priority over a general summary. Before you pay or submit an application
- Confirm that the application or screening window is currently open on the institution’s official portal.
- Check the exact course requirements rather than relying on a general cut-off score alone.
- Make sure your name, O’Level details and JAMB information are consistent before submission.
- Use official payment channels. Do not send passwords, JAMB profile codes, PINs or card details to LAG Institutes or an unofficial agent.
- Keep copies of payment receipts, acknowledgement slips and any screening or verification documents you generate.
