LASU Architecture Requirements 2026/2027: O’Level, UTME & Direct Entry

Source-checkedLast verified September 5, 2026Official source ↗

Architecture at Lagos State University (LASU) is a built-environment programme in which subject eligibility matters as much as the general admission score. Applicants often assume that every construction or design course uses the same combination, but Architecture must be checked on its own. Mathematics and Physics are central to the route, while LASU’s stored requirement data also allows a specified range of additional technical, science and design-related subjects.

Current evidence that Architecture is offered

LASU’s current Foundation programme application list includes Architecture. That is useful current institutional evidence for the course route. Admission requirements should still be checked through the university’s live screening and course-requirements systems because subject combinations and cycle-specific instructions can change.

LASU 2026/2027 screening rules

For the 2026/2027 admission exercise, LASU’s official screening portal states that full-time UTME candidates need at least 195 in the 2026 UTME, must make LASU their first-choice institution, and must upload the O’Level result intended for admission to JAMB CAPS. A valid JAMB registration number is also required.

Architecture can be competitive. The 195 score should therefore be read as LASU’s minimum screening baseline, not as a guaranteed Architecture admission score. A candidate must still meet the course subjects and any programme-specific selection standard.

O’Level subjects for Architecture

LASU’s stored course-requirements data identifies English Language, Mathematics and Physics as key subjects for Architecture, with additional accepted subjects drawn from Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Geography, Fine Arts, Biology or Economics. Use the live LASU checker to confirm the complete five-credit arrangement that applies to the current session.

Do not reduce this to “any five credits.” A candidate may have five good grades and still miss Mathematics, Physics or another compulsory requirement. Technical Drawing or Fine Arts can be relevant to the built environment, but they should not be assumed to replace a compulsory Mathematics or Physics credit unless the current LASU source explicitly says so.

UTME combination: verify Architecture itself

LASU maintains a Course Requirements Checker for programme-specific O’Level and UTME subjects. Use that checker for the exact current Architecture UTME combination.

This is important because Architecture, Building, Quantity Surveying, Urban and Regional Planning and engineering programmes can share some science subjects without having identical JAMB combinations. Do not borrow a combination from a related built-environment course. Select Architecture in the official checker and compare it directly with your JAMB registration.

Direct Entry into LASU Architecture

LASU’s 2026/2027 screening portal provides a Direct Entry route for candidates with relevant OND, NCE, HND, A-Level or equivalent qualifications. Direct Entry applicants need a valid JAMB Direct Entry registration, must select LASU as first choice and must submit the required credentials.

For Architecture, the exact discipline and grade matter. A diploma in a built-environment or technical field may appear relevant, but acceptance and entry level are determined by the current LASU/JAMB requirement. Do not assume that an ND or HND automatically leads to 200-level or 300-level placement without checking the programme-specific rule.

What Architecture applicants should prepare for

Architecture blends design thinking with technical problem-solving. Strong preparation in Mathematics and Physics supports later work in structures, measurement and environmental performance, while drawing and visual subjects can help with spatial communication. Admission eligibility is only the first step, so applicants should choose the course because the academic direction fits them, not merely because they have a construction-related O’Level subject.

Use the LASU 2026/2027 Admission Screening Portal for current-cycle rules and the LASU Course Requirements Checker for programme-specific O’Level and UTME subjects. LASU’s current Foundation programme list also includes Architecture.

Bottom line: Architecture requires more than a qualifying score. Check Mathematics, Physics and the accepted supporting subjects carefully, then verify the exact UTME or Direct Entry route on LASU’s live source before making an admission decision.

How to use this requirement in the current admission cycle

LASU's course checker gives the programme-specific O'Level and UTME subject pattern, while the current screening portal controls the live admission exercise. For 2026/2027 the screening portal requires LASU as first choice, a minimum UTME score of 195 for UTME candidates, the O'Level result on JAMB CAPS and the appropriate UTME/Direct Entry category. Treat the course requirement and the screening rule as two separate checks: you need both.

Before a change of course, compare your actual result line by line with the compulsory subjects. Do not assume a higher UTME score repairs a missing O'Level subject, and do not assume an ND, HND, NCE or JUPEB qualification accepted by one department is accepted by another. Where the Direct Entry paragraph is broad, use the current JAMB brochure and the institution's screening portal before submitting credentials.
