LASU Business Administration Requirements: O’Level, Screening & Direct Entry
Business Administration at Lagos State University (LASU) is an established undergraduate route in the Faculty of Management Sciences. LASU’s current faculty page lists Business Administration among its departments, alongside Accounting, Banking and Finance, Marketing and related management disciplines. For applicants, the important issue is not simply whether the course exists, but whether their O’Level subjects, UTME combination and current screening status all line up correctly.
LASU Business Administration O’Level requirement
The course record originally synced from LASU’s official requirements checker lists English Language and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, together with accepted commercial or social-science subjects such as Geography, Accounting, Commerce, Government and Economics. Applicants should treat this as a subject-pattern check, not a generic “five credits” rule.
That means someone may have five or more credits and still need to confirm that the accepted mix matches LASU’s current requirement. Economics, Commerce and Accounting are related subjects, but they should not automatically be treated as interchangeable in every admission rule. Always compare the result you intend to use with LASU’s live course-requirements checker before screening.
Confirm the UTME combination live
The earlier imported UTME field for this course contained only an incomplete scraper fragment rather than a usable combination. LAG Institutes therefore does not publish a guessed subject list. LASU operates a live course-requirements checker specifically for programme-level O’Level and UTME combinations, and that should be the final reference before JAMB registration, a change of course or a change of institution.
This matters because the O’Level requirement and the UTME subject combination test different parts of eligibility. Meeting one does not repair an error in the other. A strong score cannot replace an incorrect subject combination.
Current LASU 2026/2027 screening rules
LASU’s official 2026/2027 Admission Screening Portal states that UTME candidates need at least 195, must have LASU as their first-choice institution, must upload their O’Level result to JAMB CAPS, and must use a valid JAMB registration number.
The 195 figure is a university screening minimum for the current cycle. It should not be presented as a guaranteed Business Administration admission mark. Departmental competition, programme capacity, screening outcome and the wider admission process still matter.
Direct Entry applicants
LASU’s current portal includes a Direct Entry route for candidates with relevant OND, NCE, HND, A-Level or equivalent qualifications. Direct Entry applicants need a valid JAMB Direct Entry registration, LASU as first choice, and must follow the university’s credential-submission instructions.
For Business Administration, relevance and grade still matter. A business-related diploma may be appropriate, but applicants should verify the exact accepted qualification and minimum classification for the current session before assuming that a higher qualification guarantees advanced entry.
What Business Administration prepares you to study
Business Administration is broader than simply “learning how to run a business.” Students typically encounter areas such as management, organisational behaviour, entrepreneurship, operations, strategy, business decision-making and the way organisations coordinate people and resources. LASU’s Faculty of Management Sciences describes Business Administration as one of its professional programmes and also supports postgraduate and professional business routes.
The course is a better fit for students who are interested in how organisations work, how decisions are made, how teams are managed and how business systems can be improved. It can support careers across private companies, public organisations, entrepreneurship and further professional training, although specific jobs may require additional qualifications or experience.
Common application mistakes
- Counting five credits without checking whether English Language and Mathematics are included.
- Assuming Economics, Commerce and Accounting can always substitute for one another.
- Using an old UTME combination from a third-party page instead of LASU’s current checker.
- Treating 195 as a guaranteed departmental cut-off rather than the current screening minimum.
- Applying through Direct Entry without confirming both relevance and grade of the qualification.
- Failing to upload the O’Level result to JAMB CAPS before attempting screening.
Applicant checklist
Before paying for screening, confirm that the O’Level subjects you intend to use match the current course requirement, verify the exact UTME combination, make sure LASU is your first choice on JAMB, and check that your O’Level result has been uploaded to CAPS. Direct Entry applicants should also confirm the current qualification and documentation requirements.
Official verification
LASU’s Faculty of Management Sciences currently lists Business Administration as one of its departments, and the university’s current Foundation course list also includes Business Administration. The live admission portal remains the correct source for the current screening cycle.

Bottom line: Business Administration is clearly established at LASU, but admission should still be handled as a sequence of checks: correct O’Level subjects, correct UTME subjects, current screening eligibility and, where applicable, a properly matched Direct Entry qualification.
How to use this requirement in the current admission cycle
LASU's course checker gives the programme-specific O'Level and UTME subject pattern, while the current screening portal controls the live admission exercise. For 2026/2027 the screening portal requires LASU as first choice, a minimum UTME score of 195 for UTME candidates, the O'Level result on JAMB CAPS and the appropriate UTME/Direct Entry category. Treat the course requirement and the screening rule as two separate checks: you need both.
Before a change of course, compare your actual result line by line with the compulsory subjects. Do not assume a higher UTME score repairs a missing O'Level subject, and do not assume an ND, HND, NCE or JUPEB qualification accepted by one department is accepted by another. Where the Direct Entry paragraph is broad, use the current JAMB brochure and the institution's screening portal before submitting credentials.
