UNILAG DLI Admission 2026/2027: Programmes and Entry Routes

The University of Lagos Distance Learning Institute (DLI) announced admission for the 2026/2027 academic session through Open and Distance Learning. The route is different from UNILAG’s regular undergraduate Post-UTME process: the official DLI notice sets out Year One, Year Two and Year Three entry paths and states that there will be no UTME examination for DLI admission. Applicants still have to satisfy the academic requirement for the programme and entry year they choose.

Programmes listed in the 2026/2027 DLI notice

The official notice lists degree options in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics and Public Administration, alongside education programmes. The education list includes Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Physics Education, Mathematics Education, Economics Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Management, Guidance and Counselling, Business Education and English Education.

Programme availability should be confirmed on the official DLI/application system before payment because a published programme list and a live application window are separate things.

Year One entry

UNILAG states a general minimum of five credits in SSCE, GCE, NECO O’Level or an equivalent qualification, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings. That is the general DLI baseline; the chosen degree can have additional relevant-subject requirements, so applicants should check the programme-specific condition rather than stopping at the general five-credit rule.

The notice also says applicants awaiting results are not eligible to apply. Make sure the result you intend to use is already available and can be verified.

Year Two entry

The DLI notice provides Year Two routes for applicants with relevant NCE, National Diploma at a minimum of Lower Credit, JUPEB, IJMB or GCE A’ Level qualifications in relevant subjects. “Relevant” matters here: possession of any ND or NCE does not automatically qualify an applicant for every DLI degree.

Before selecting Year Two, match your qualification to the intended programme and check whether UNILAG asks for a particular subject background or supporting credential.

Year Three entry

For Year Three, UNILAG lists relevant HND at a minimum of Lower Credit and a bachelor’s degree at a minimum of Third Class, together with the applicable evidence of NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion. The notice also identifies specified professional qualifications that can support Year Three entry, including recognised accounting, banking, management and insurance credentials.

If you are relying on a professional qualification, verify that the exact qualification appears in the current official list instead of assuming that a broadly similar certificate is accepted.

No UTME examination does not mean “no requirements”

The notice is explicit that there will be no UTME examination for DLI UNILAG. That does not waive the O’Level requirement, the relevant post-secondary qualification for advanced entry, age conditions or other application instructions. UNILAG also states that DLI applicants should possess basic ICT skills because the programme is delivered through an ICT-supported blended learning model.

Applicants should be at least 16 years old by the date stated in the 2026/2027 notice. The notice also states that admission is open irrespective of learning disability or challenge, while applicants still need to meet the academic entry conditions.

Before paying for the DLI application

• Choose the correct programme and entry year.
• Confirm your O’Level result and any relevant ND, NCE, HND, degree, A’ Level or professional qualification.
• Check the current application window and fee only on UNILAG’s official DLI/application pages.
• Keep your application details and payment evidence.
• Do not use the regular Post-UTME rules as a substitute for the DLI notice.

Admission information can change after a page is published.
